Thomas Hamacher, Ph. D.

Thomas Hamacher studied Physics in Bonn and Aachen and at Columbia University, New York. After receiving his PhD at DESY (Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron) in Hamburg in 1993, he held a postdoc position at The University of Texas at Austin (HERA-B Experiment). Starting in 1996, Thomas worked at Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik in Garching, where he was appointed as head of the Energy and System Studies Division in 1999. Currently he is Professor and acting director of the Chair of Energy Economy and Application Technology at Technische Universität München. Thomas is a member of the Energy Division of the European Physical Society (EPS) and of the Wissenschaftszentrum Umwelt (WZU) of Universität Augsburg.
